National Sports Day
National Sports Day (10/16/25) is here! When playing a sport, the goal is to get better. How do we do this?
We go back to the basics. Becoming an elite athlete is not done by accident, unless you’re some incomprehensible prodigy which 99.99% of us are not. We must start at the beginning. We can’t become great at level 10 without first mastering level 1. As Gordon B. Hinkley states “You can’t build a great building on a weak foundation.”
To play well at any sport you first must train for it, and training begins with exercise.
What you need:
· Skill development and practice
- Practice consistently, master the basics, and always be learning
- The secret? The fundamentals work! Don’t overlook them
· Physical and mental conditioning
- Focus on building strength, speed, endurance, and flexibility
- Prioritize recovery by sleeping enough, eat a healthy diet, and stay hydrated
