How Can I Improve My Posture?
Have you ever heard someone mention posture? Was it about how it needed to improve or how it caused issues? What exactly is posture and why is it important? These are things you need to know to improve and maintain it. Our favorite definition of posture is the attitude assumed by the body to maintain stability. It is how you hold your body when you are either moving or at rest.
There are two types of posture, dynamic and static. Dynamic posture refers to body alignments, or how you hold yourself, when you are attempting movement such as walking, running, or jumping. Static posture is how you hold yourself when you are not moving. The body is aligned in a fixed position.
There is an abundance of reasons good posture is important. One of the most predominant reasons is the prevention of several destructive health conditions. A common result of poor posture is an affliction called hyperlordosis, better known as pelvic tilt. Pelvic tilt is largely to blame when it comes to lower back pain.
When addressing ways to improve posture, consider the importance of body awareness. Tai chi and yoga are types of exercise that focus on body awareness. Through that awareness you can achieve movements that engage and strengthen the core.
Your core is much more than just your abs. It is generally identified as the muscles found in the front of the torso and the mid to lower back. Strengthening the core is one of the best ways to improve posture. Some tried and true core strengthening exercises are the plank and the hip bridge.
There are countless benefits to correcting and improving posture. Learning how the core works and how it affects posture, as well as utilizing these different techniques can be an important tool in improving your own. Applying the knowledge and practicing the techniques will lead to improvement and consistency. Consistent good posture leads to healthy outcomes.
