Eating Fats Won't Make You Fat!
Eating Fat Won’t Make You Fat! 🥑 Sounds crazy right?? It's true!
Fats are one of the three macro nutrients that the human needs (protein, fat, and carbohydrates).
Fat contains essential fatty acids that we must consume because the body cannot make those itself. Fat helps the body absorb A, D, and E vitamins. It's important to consume an adequate intake of these vitamins.
Benefits of having fats in your diet:
- Provide your body with energy
- Supports cell function in the body
- Helps the body absorb nutrients
- Helps the body produce hormones
Try to get 20-30% of your total calories to come from fat.
For example: Let’s say you’re on 2,000 calories a day
- 20% of that is 400 calories
- 30% of that is 600 calories
Now we are aiming for 400-600 calories of your 2,000 total calories to come from fat.
That’s great! But how do we know how to make 400-600 calories come from fat?
Let’s break it down a step further:
We know we need 400-600 calories to come from fat.
1 gram of fat is equal to 9 calories.
Dividing 400 by 9 we get approximately 44
Dividing 600 by 9 we get approximately 66
Now we have determined that we need somewhere between 44-66 grams of fat in our daily intake.
You can find the number of grams of fat on any nutrition label of food. If there is no nutrition label you can always look it up online to get a good estimate!
As always, we highly recommend speaking to your doctor or nutritionist before beginning any diet or exercise program to decide what would work best for you.
Stay healthy. Keep fats in your diet. And TRAIN. RECOVER. REPEAT! #healthyfats #trainrecoverrepeat #gofit
