Tips To Combat Stiffness
Feeling stiff after you wake up or have been sitting for a while? Why does this happen? 🤔 While it is not known what causes our body to feel stiff, it is common to feel stiff and achy when initially waking up and after sitting for a while.
What does sleeping and sitting have in common? They both cause a long period of inactivity to the body.
Here are some ways to try and combat stiffness:
1. Make sure you are not only getting enough sleep but that you are getting into a deep sleep. This is the time your body recovers and repairs itself best. Don’t skimp on your quality of sleep.
2. Have you looked at your mattress? Is it several years old? Make sure you are not sleeping on a mattress that is too firm or too soft.
3. Do you shower in the morning? Try taking a hot shower to warm up your muscles.
4. Try to be active during the day. Get a workout in. Go for a walk. Do something to get the body moving and your blood flowing.
5. Take a look at your diet. There's a saying that goes “you are what you eat.” This is true in terms of how you feel. Make sure you’re eating high quality whole foods.
